I got a headset for my birthday and it is a sennheiser so it is pretty good quality so I want to get the most out of it. I currently have realtek installed on my pc as it came with it and when I plug in the green plug into the green jack I select headphones and pink into pink and select mic. Then when I open windows sound card manager it is showing my headphones as a speaker. Am i doing this right? I tried plugging the green plug into green and selecting line out aswel but there was no sound. Can you guys give me any suggestions of what i should be doing to get prime settings for this headset (even if it is off onboard sound?) I have provided a screenshot aswel as audio on pcs for some reason confuses the hell out of me especially realtek.

Hello... ok I found it for changing the ICON... Control Panel-SOUND-Speaker Properties-Change ICON

But for best possible sound/volume I would suggest getting an Amplifer with Headphone connector and "Line out" Tasked to it.
Hello... there are speakers in the headphones... But you do not want it assigned to "Line OUT" that signal is ment to go to an AMPLIFIER. You need an amplified Signal for the headphones/speakers. You need a Speaker OUT ( amplified ) assigned to the plug. You can right click on the connectors in the RealTeK software and check / set that connector for proper options.

Also check volumes in the software for that connection. It's possible that you might have to hook them up to your stereo amplifier to get Maxium Volume... depending on your motherboard.

Hey there thanks for the reply.. I have opened realtek and right clicked on the headphone jack and changed the connection retasking to line in, headphone, front speaker out, rear speaker out, center/subwoofer speaker out and side speaker out. They either all sounded bad or did not have any sound output at all. Headphone was the only option that sounded decent but it is still showing up as a speaker in my windows sound settings.
