Windows Server 2012 R2 Motherboard NIC not detected

So after a lot of headache with Ubuntu server I deciced to start from scratch and download WS2012 R2 from Dreamspark's student program.

The problem I've run into is, even though my PCIE NIC is detected and works just fine, the integrated NIC on the motherboard is not detected in any way.

-Side note: Internet Explorer is painfully slow on the server is that normal? I had he same issue on Ubuntu with firefox.

What kind of motherboard you have?
Internet Explorer on Windows server by default is configured for "restricted" mode, where each domain has to be approved.

MSI Z87-GD65, I know its a weird board to run a server on but I came across it recently for cheep and didn't have any uses for it

"Killer network driver" is a recipe for disaster, I don't know why the hype is still raging...

Have you tried Windows 7 drivers? Do you have your NIC enabled in BIOS?

To my knowledge ya, that was my first thought. I checked the bios and everything was normal. I'm running Wserver 2012 R2 would W7 drivers even work?

Unless you try them, you would not know. I keep away from everyting "killer"...

Just stick with the PCIE NIC. Server 2012 isn't designed to work with gaming components.

If the built-in NIC doesn't appear under Device Manager, there are only 2 possibilities:

1. Disabled in BIOS.
2. Bad (faulty, not repairable) onboard NIC.

It might appear as an "Unknown Device".
