Hello guys,

I'm looking for ideas to build a very cheap windows server for private use.

It needs to be silent. It will be connected to remotely. As long as it doesn't impede file transfer speeds (7200rpm storage disc) and can run windows 10 smoothly, the hardware speeds don't matter. It will be running 24/7 so power consumption is an issue.(power is expensive here).

I can obtain and put together the hardware on my own.

Any ideas for parts? If interested in helping, the cheaper the part, the better, as long as it meets the requirements.

Then I'll look at Intel NUC or MSI Cubi as a low consumption option.

I don't know of any power supply of less than 300 watts... but you also could mount something with an Athlon 240GE + A320 MB.
