So, I have an HP Probook running Windows 10(latest updates). The problem I'm facing is when I click shut down/hibernate/sleep, the PC doesn't always follow the command. What happens is after clicking shut down/hibernate/sleep the screen goes dark, as it should, but the PC doesn't shut down/hibernate/sleep. The screen remains dark but the SSD & HDD stop working(the indicator light stops), the keyboard stops responding or taking any input and the power button doesn't work and the laptop keeps running until the battery runs out. I have to hard reset it every time. It completely stops responding. This doesn't happen every time but happens mostly.
What all I have tried:
*Reinstalling Windows 10(Pro & Home edition)
*Switching from HDD to M.2 SSD
*Refreshing Windows
*Swapping RAM sticks
*Disabling sleep modes in BIOS
I am dual booting my system and this problem doesn't occur in Ubuntu. Only in Windows.
One thing that I have noticed is that when I boot in safe mode this problem doesn't occur. It only shows up during normal boot. I have installed all the recommended drivers using the HP Assistant. I have also tried installing them manually, still no difference.
I have another i5-7200U and there is no problem with that one. I am pretty sure this is a driver related issue as it doesn't occur in normal boot. Also, HP recently released an Audio device driver update stating: "Fixes an intermittent issue which causes the system to stop functioning (hang)." Applied the update still the same issue persists.
I have the latest BIOS installed(May 05 2019).
Specs:
i5-7200U
2x4GB LPDDR4 RAM
240GB M.2 SATA III SSD(Windows and Ubuntu Installed)
500GB WD Black HDD
Please provide me with a solution to fix this.
Thanks
