Windows Store Games

Can someone help point out a laptop for me around $200-$300 or about that? The only thing I will be using it for is to play windows store games like asphalt 8 and modern combat 5. I was thinking about getting a chromebook for about $200 from sears.com but was unsure if it would be fit for running those games? Any help/suggestions/advice?

Chromebooks will not play Windows only games. Windows apps will not run on the Chrome OS.

I understand the operating system on a chromebook is not configured to run windows store games but my question was if you could point me to a chromebook or similar laptop of that price that could have the hardware configuration enough to run them. A supportive example of this is that a lot of the windows store games are made my gameloft which also makes the same game ported for the android platform. That and from my understanding there is some kind of crossover software that will allow a chromebook to run some windows apps as long as the chromebook can support hardware wise.


More suggestions and advice please? I really want to pickup one of these chromebooks or laptops for $200-$300 but need to know why I should not be!

Laptops in the $200-300 range are going to be a low-end of the performance scale.

It is important to note that you must use an Intel based Chromebook to use these applications. Also, performance, using such an emulator, is not going to be great. For web based games, it should be okay, but why bother?

Sounds like you really need a Windows based laptop. Are you opposed to purchasing a refurbished unit from a site like Newegg?

With Chromebooks, especially in this price range, we are effectively looking at oversized smartphones with a keyboard. These 2 options both have 4GBs of RAM but only 16GBs of storage. If you want 32GBs, let alone 64GBs, of storage, prices start at $500.

The Lenovo is your typical Chromebook in terms of CPU and screen size, but it does support microSD. The Celeron N3050 doesn't impress anyone but it's the preferred unit in this price range.

The HP is somewhat larger and features a 2K IPS display, a faster but actually older CPU. It's really up to you to decide which size you prefer. Just remember there are mainstream, affordable smartphones that are faster and have at least double the storage.

Of course, COLGeek is right: You can still only run Android-on-Android and Windows-on-Windows.
