windows stuck at boot screen

okay i have a custom tower that i had bought from someone. It had windows 7 on it but i started to install windows 8 to it using a usb flash drive. However the computer was shut off before the installation was finished now when i start the computer it just goes to the windows 8 boot screen. I tried to do a recovery using f8 but nothing happens. What can i do?

Do a clean install of 8

When you get to windows setup delete all partitions / reinstall windows

i tried to get it to boot from the flash drive but i cant because it wont boot from it. I dont know if its because it doesnt support it or what i can tell you what is listed in the boot options

Where did Windows 8 come from and how did you put it on the flash drive??

Get the mediacreation tool and install 8.1 https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows

the windows 8 i downloaded on to the flash drive from my other desketop I do not know exactly the name of it since its a custom made tower.

You cant copy windows 8 from something. You have to either boot from the dvd. Or use an ISO and extract it to a flash drive or burn it to a dvd

no i downloaded it off a website then i just put it on the flash drive im using the medicreation now so ill see if it works

You dont copy it to the flash drive. Leave it on the hdd, the tool will probably format it

Altho I would use rufus http://rufus.akeo.ie/

Put the flash drive in (dont put the ISO on it, because rufus will format it). If your mobo has a UEFI BIOS select GPT for partition. If it doesnt select MBR

Add ISO, wait for it to finish. Reboot, boot from it (change the bootdisk in the BIOS to it). Press a key when it says to

Get to windows setup install windows

It'll tell you to reboot a few times. DON'T press a key again, when it says to otherwise it'll start again

Might be USB hdd

If this is what it says then this option Hard Disk- USB -HDD0 :USB flash memory

If one of these dont work then it maybe too old to support flash drives

You may have to burn the ISO to dvd

I would love to use a dvd but the disk drive doesnt work the thing wont open so my only option is the flash drive
