Windows stuck on Microsoft Basic Display Driver

I have installed the correct and most up to date drivers yet I'm still stuck on Microsoft Basic Display Driver which is hindering the performance of my laptop as everything is being rendered off my CPU. I would like a way to fix this.

Laptop is Asus UX301LA

have you gone to the ASUS support site for your laptop? and download the chipset and vga driver. just select driver & utility. ix-5xxx as your CPU and your win8.1 as your OS.

but since you are using the intel tools. you might get a more recent version than the one provided by Asus since they stopped supporting your laptop. if the chipset driver install fails, ignore it and just install the VGA driver.

Problem is still persisting after installation of both drivers (chipset and VGA) and a restart of the laptop

when you open your Device Manager, which devices have yellow marks?
can you check if your windows has driver updates enabled? follow the instructions below and do enable instead.

Hi Mark,

Sorry for the long wait in the reply, I had other things going on with School starting back up, I've enabled the automatic updates. This is the only yellow mark I could find in my device manager.
