When I turn on my accer aspire 5670 laptop I get a missing or corrupt file message. I don't have the factory install disc available anymore.

Without a Windows disk to run a repair setup you won't get anywhere, so track down an XP disk, local computer shop, friends, ebay (make sure you get a real disk not a copy). This can also be a sign of a bad hard drive.

Try going to cmd (run as admin) and use this command

sfc /scannow
