I have a 70 gb hd, that is showing 65 gb used, the temp folder inside the
windows folder is showing 63 gb used with 7 folders and 51 files. Inside the
folder there are only 5 folders and a handful of files. Hidden folders have
been set to visable. Can you delete this folder without corrupting windows XP?

With no applications and or installs running and after restart, you can
delete the files from the %temp% directory.

The Windows temporary folder (typically c:/windows/temp) is your computer's
scratch pad. It's a place to store files that Windows or your other software
only needs on a temporary basis. Once you have rebooted your computer, the
temporary folder's contents are safe to delete. That said, it's always a
good idea to review the contents of the folder before deleting anything;
there may be files in there that you want to keep.

It is highly unusual for the temporary folder to grow to such a huge size.
Windows and applications usually clean up after themselves, so the temp
folder is typically empty or holds just a few files. With a temp folder that
large, I strongly suspect that you have a virus or spyware.

Reboot your computer and clear the temp folder. If it starts to fill up
again, you've got virus/spyware troubles.
