Why?
Because the real user profile gets corrupted in some way. The system needs to boot into something, so a new Tempt account.

How to fix?
Recover from the full drive backup you made before this happened.

Thank you. This was for a client. Yikes, lots of steps. So this is simply a corrupted drive? Seems like best solution is to simply reinstall the OS right?

if you can get into user you can always make a new local user and make it admin - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...-windows-20de74e0-ac7f-3502-a866-32915af2a34d
and give it access to all the other users files

when on broken user
go to c:/Users/olduserfolder
copy contents onto C:/Users/Newuser folder

names of folders change based on what yours are

this gives it access to the old users files and might save a clean install. I did it myself a few years ago.
you don't need to reinstall anything.
might need to set up browsers. And desktop.
