hey guys, first and foremost please excuse any grammar mistakes as i am typing this on an ipad.
i have just installed windows ten on my computer, at first everything looked to be going well, it even said it was 85% done but then inexplicably it gave me the "your DWM is incompatable with aero glass. see debug for more details" and then it asks me to either retry symbols downloading or press cancle, in this screen, it wont let me click anything at all, i unplugged and replugged my computer in and when it booted up again it had the windows ten load symbols and said "please wait". after only a few seconds it freezes, and then goes back to a black screen where its been for six hours, and i have no idea how to fix this as i cant have any input to the computer at all, i pressed f8 on start up aswell, but it did not boot me into safe mode. addedly, my keyboard lights keep turning on then off as if it was restarting my computer, but i thought nothing of this because i thought it was just my computer updating. after waiting for aboout seven hours now, i may be thinking of sacrificing one if my cats. any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Were you updating or installing clean? Hope you got a back up for your files. I would recommend to restart it few times and if you get no information- then clean install.

I can't clean install because my computer wont even boot up for the first time. It's literally just a black screen. The operating system itself wont boot up so there's no way to do a clean reinstall. And I was updating from windows 8.1 to windows 10.

When you clean install, you boot from DVD- you boot in to BIOS by tapping F4 continuously when it starts, and then select boot drive in the BIOS as DVD or USB. You will have to make installation media on DVD or USB. Look the stickies posts on this forum on how to clean install Win 10.

Hey, I've fixed the problem and am now back on my computer. When I ended up having to do was reformat my harddrive completely (factory reset). For people who are having the same problem and have found no help, this is for you. What I ended up doing was getting lucky enough as to where the login screen was flashing, at that point I clicked on the power button in the bottom right and held shift while pressing the restart button. That brought me to a blue screen with different options on it. At this point, the screen stopped flashing and I was able to navigate through and select the reset option, I selected the option where It said it would reinstall windows completely, and erase everything off of my hard drive. I know most of you might not be happy about having to delete everything, but believe me, I was not either. I am a graphic designer, and I lost many... Mannnnnyyy photo's that I have made over the years. I hope that helps you guys, It was the only way I was able to fix it. On a side note, if you have not upgraded to Windows 10 yet, and you're considering doing so, I would hold off for a little while. I wish someone would have told me that, as Windows 10 being as new as it is, is inevitably crammed with bugs, and glitches. I would wait atleast a month or so until most of the major ones have been hammered out, like the start menu not recognizing some apps.

(also F8 was not working for me, and my computer wouldn't let me into the BIOS, I would try what the other guy said first, if it doesn't work, then my method is a last resort. Good luck guys. (Also, I would appreciate if an admin would close this thread as it will not let me select my own post as an answer.))
