Hello everyone. :)

Hello there. :)

I'm experiencing a strange issue with Windows 10 Update and I'm looking for help please.

The update client cannot connect to the internet to search for updates when my PC is connected with a wired connection. When I switch to my Wi-Fi connection it will connect and is able to search for updates.

My wired connection works and connects to the internet for everything else without any problems.

Does anyone know a reason why this may happen?

Many thanks in advance.. :)

I used a utility called 'Windows Update Mini Tool' which did seem to work ok. Thank you Welshstig. :)

Although using a 3rd party app is a good alternative' it is not a solution. Does anyone know the reason(s) why the built in Windows update tool will sometimes not work with a wired connection and have a solution?

Thanks. :)

I've got the exact same issue and would love to know how to fix it. Windows Update returns: 0x8024401c.

For me its even more than windows update, about 90% of websites work, while others take 2 to 5 minutes to load. Almost appears like a DNS not resolving issue. Even this site took minutes to post answer.

Not interested in 3rd party tools, would like to fix this natively in Windows 10 - Creator.

Have searched high and low and tried every recommendation without any luck, updated Network adapter drivers and still no luck.

Many thanks

Yes, only wired connection I have issues with. I assume this means you still haven't found the solution?

Switch over to Wireless and everything works as expected.

I've got lots of large files on my NAS I need to work with, so definitely rather do that over Gigabit wired connection than wireless.

I've even go as far as buying a new PCIe Ethernet card, disabled onboard, updated the drivers and same issue still persists. When using wired connection Windows Update and a few sites just don't work.

Have run all the netsh commands, flushdns etc, but those have not helps.

Yeah.. using a wired connection isn't ideal. Wireless speeds are very poor for networking.. for me anyway.

I'm wondering if there's a way to setup the NIC's so that you can use both wired and wireless at the same time. Obviously it wouldn't be a proper solution but it will be better than waiting for Microsoft to pull their finger out. The amount of stupid annoying little problems Windows has is getting out of hand. Whats even more annoying though is the fact that MS don't seem to care. They rarely fix these issues. They concentrate on the new stuff which then just creates even more niggles.

Rant over. :)
