Question Windows Update - Download Error Please Help

What edition and version of Windows is installed?

Source?

Windows' default configuration is to install updates as the updates become available for release.

However those updates can be stopped or delayed to a certain extent.

Check two things:

1) "WIN" + "I" > Update & Security > Windows Update

How is Windows currently configured?

There is also, or should be a "Check for Updates" option.

2) In the "Type here to search" box type "View your Update history"

Any listing of failed or problem updates?

As a side note if you are not using a legal copy of Windows and/or are getting/trying to get updates from non-Microsoft websites then it is just a matter of time until the system will crash due to buggy/corrupted code. Or get infected with some nasty virus or malware. Or hacked to where your personal information is exposed.

Maybe that has already happened......

I asked him which version he was on in another thread.

which version of win 11
  1. right click start
  2. choose run...
  3. type winver and press enter
  4. current version is 22H2
if he is on 21H2 he should download the Media creation tool (2nd link) here and use it to make a win 11 installer.
https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11
once its made, put it in the PC that won't update
open file explorer (win + e) and navigate to the USB drive
run Setup.exe
agree to upgrade current PC

If he is on 22H2 now, do a repair install - https://www.elevenforum.com/t/repair-install-windows-11-with-an-in-place-upgrade.418/
this will replace windows and also mean he has to get about 5 updates. + the drivers that are showing on that screen.

If that still doesn't fix it, I would suggest a clean install as something is really broken if replacing windows doesn't fix it.
