windows update problem?

After installing "Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932)" regardless of update setting, as soon as you open the windows update window, it triggers the "search for updates!" The OS starts checking for updates and won't stop! It can't find the server? or anymore updates? and acts like the energizer bunny! it keeps searching and searching.......
After trying countless microsoft fix-it's and other things I finally got it to stop by uninstalling
"Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932)".
any ideas?

just let your system do this alone - this might take a full day if using old image / cd - but if it fails after a day, it will tell you why - it just needs patience *g*

I've let it run for at least an hour but it doesn't find anything?

prior to sp1 it finds updates in seconds or minutes at the most?

The OS tried to install sp1 a second time and failed. Then a few other important updates installed no problem. Then the OS tried to install sp1 for third time and bingo! we have a winner! The windows update is working correctly now.
