Windows Update Service error 193

[nullpointerexception]

Hi everyone,

I am not able to update windows 8.1. When I go to the Services window, and try to Start the Windows Update Service, appears a message telling that it cannot be started with an error code of 193 0xc1.

I tried to restart the computer, deleting all the content of the "softwaredistribution" folder, but nothing worked. Is there any fix available?

Try running sfc /scannow in a CMD window
Try stopping the update service and restarting it.
Make sure you are virus free, try Malwarebytes anti-malware (free version)

I tried using sfc /scannow and it told me that it fixed some problems, but not all of them.

Windows update cannot be started, because when I start it manually, it shows the problem which I have said above. And it doesn't initialize automatically on start even if the startup option is Automatic.

As for the links, I tried what it is written there, but nothing worked.

The Windows Update Troubleshooter says the following:

- Problem to install recent updates -> Not Fixed
- Service registration is missing or corrupt -> Fixed
- Windows Update Error (0x800800005) -> Fixed

Even thought, the problem still persists :S
