[SOLVED] Windows Update then Windows Locked

So I updated my computer with the new windows update. I restarted my computer tried to open applications and it came up with a critical process died, blue screen. The computer shut down I turned it on again and it locked Windows and my computer can't find a drive with an OS on it. Am I going to have to re-download Windows on my computer? Also, what could cause this?

I didn't unplug the computer while updating if you were wondering.

I already have important files I need saved on a usb drive but its kinda a hassle to have to re-download everything on my computer including drivers.

OS - Windows 10
Motherboard - Asrock B450M Pro
CPU - Ryzen 5 2600
GPU - RX 570
SSD (drive that had boot device before hand) - 256gb PNY SSD

The first obvious thing would be to check the connections on your OS drive.
You might be able to use the 'repair' option off a USB.

If it throws that critical process error again, see if you can get the code.

OS drive death can cause similar symptoms.

BTW - what do you mean by "it locked Windows"? If OS drive can't be found, then there's no more windows.

Well I assume there is at least something on the os drive.

Yeah I can see the PNY SSD in the BIOS.

What error do you get exactly, when trying to boot windows?

I didn't take a photo of it but the error said

Do you have other drives in the system? Were they disconnected while you installed OS on the SSD?

If you have multiple drives, check your motherboard documents to see which/if one of the SATA ports go unavailable using an M.2 (I am of the assumption this is the type of drive being used).

You said, you got CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED after booting into windows and trying to open applications.
Do you get the same error before booting into windows now?

I'd suspect your SSD. It may have exhausted all write cycles and locked itself.
You'll probably have to replace it.
