I've seen many other people have this kind of problem, when they shut down every night or so windows installs an update. My situation is sort of like that but to a worse degree. Instead of 1 update a night, I get around 195. Started as soon as I installed windows on my new SSD but I don't believe the SSD is the problem (samsung 850 to clarify). There is too many to list and the list on my update history also has so many different codes I wouldn't be able to tell whether I've listed one already or not. Also in the morning when I boot my computer it starts to configure the updates but then after about 20 minutes of doing that it never goes past 15% without failing then taking 30 minutes or over to shut down whether or not I force shut it down.

Solution
You need to turn off Windows Update (temporarily), if it is showing the updates ready, choose 10 or 15 of them and install only those. Keep doing this until all of them are done. When doing a large number of updates like that, of 1 fails or tries to install out-of-order, it can/will fail them all. Just do the updates in groups and when there are no more, turn Windows Update back on.

With that many updates I assume this is Windows 7. You can try this:
