Windows vista will not shutdown sleep?

My Windows Vista Ultimate will not shutdown, or sleep, keeps rebooting.

Boot into safe mode - then shutdown was it successful ?

In normal mode you have an application or other resource that is not releasing memory to allow the shutdown to complete.

In safe mode, you can disable auto restart on system error and see what happens; most likely a bsod with stop code to investigate.
