Ok hopefully you guys can help me out. I've been fiddling with this for hours and looked all over the internet for a solution.

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 (slim edition) just added a 475w PSU, total of 4gb of ram and attempting to install my xfx HD radeon 1gb ddr3 amd 5450. The OS is vista 32bit with integrated graphics.

I got the drivers disk for the gpu so first I disabled the igpu and shut down the system then plugged in my new card, booted it up and inserted the disk. The installation said successful, rebooted and when a windows update came up for it(the computer knows it's there because the update was available) I clicked update for ati graphics 5450 and it would fail. I reinstalled a few times because the catalyst wouldn't open either kept giving an error. I checked the device manager and it says standard graphic display not my card. Any ideas?

I would download the latest driver for the AMD HD5450 directly from the AMD download site HERE and not try to do it through a Windows update. I would also first remove the old driver, if you have issues with that AMD has a driver removal tool.

And as noted: AMD Catalyst Control Center requires Microsoft .NET4 Framework. Windows Vista and Windows 7 users may need to install the Microsoft .NET4 Framework as a prerequisite to use Catalyst Control Center.

I did try getting it straight from the and site but when used there drivers, the installation wasn't successful and said hdm1 and display adapter failed but was successful when using the disc. I also tried dell but it couldn't recognize anything and said all my drivers were good. I also do have the framework and the OS is up to date on everything
