[SOLVED] Windows won't update which antivirus should i pick?

Solution
It's no wonder no one gathered your intended meaning/intent, as you skipped the minor details of saying you had a known infected system, and could not do Windows updates

give Malwarebytes AntiMalware (free trial anyway) a full scan, let it remove whatever it finds....(if your infected system will even let you install it)
https://www.malwarebytes.com/mwb-download

After that, give a trial run of Sophos Hitman64 Pro...
https://www.hitmanpro.com/en-us/downloads

Anything those two can't find, you are likely going to resort to a proverbial 'nuke and pave' anyway if starting with a known infected system, and if infected, you should do this anyway...(Can you really trust that everything was removed?)

Agree with @Lafong.

Windows Security/Defender should be more than sufficient.

And I will add another question: where did you get "Windows"?

Edition, version, etc..?

Details needed.

In the meantime, do not give anyone any money in any way or method.

Especially if that "anyone" wants a credit card and/or bank account information.

You guys didn't get my intended meaning. I am unable to update windows because I have a virus. I don't want to reboot windows. So I am considering buying an antivirus. I'm not being asked to buy an antivirus i just want to have one now. Which one would you recomend for my problem. If I can't update windows I can't play these halo games I bought.

A paid AV is no better than what comes included with Windows....Windows Defender.

If this 'virus' is impacting the ability to Update your OS, you may need to just do a full wipe and reinstall.

under the menu Ultra Virus Killer, download & info

They have a repair menu. Repair Windows Update, check that box.
Also, scripts to run for repair or maintenance.

Costs $25.00 to buy. Their UVK program is marginal, but they have
a menu to select other programs such as Malwarebytes that downloads itself and you can use, AdwCleaner.
