Windows XP 32 Bit to Windows 7 64 bit installation issues (NOT UPGRADE)

Motherboard is an AsRock 4CoreDual-SATA2 R2.0 that is designed for 64 bit applications in Vista and above. We cannot upgrade the system as original XP discs were lost in a recent move. We decided to go for a full redo of my husbands computer but we keep getting to the point where it asks for a driver installation and it is NOT seeing the hard drive AT ALL. Is a thumb drive of the Mobo 64 bit drivers required for this installation onto a disc that previously had XP 32 bit on it? We aren't sure if we have one and, after 5 attempts at installing 7, the computer no longer will boot into XP....It is not a branded PC. My husband is a Microsoft Certified Computer Tech (but when he got his certification Vista was new...) so knows most Windows stuff and has NEVER come across this issue before..though this is his first time installing 7 on any computer. Any ideas/suggestions that might help us?

Solution
The drive is probably on a separate SATA controller which requires a driver (could be some RAID-enabled controller). Download the SATA controller drivers and put them on a flash drive, then do F6 when asked in the install.
