hi, im trying to find a motherboard that supports windows xp for playing old games that wont run on modern hardware

Not just motherboard, but CPU + System memory + GPU.

The main issue is probably only the VIDEO CARD since modern cards have only basic driver support for XP.

You might be best to just find a USED computer then replace the video card if what it has isn't good enough.

*Last XP driver appears to be THIS:
http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/105040/en-us

Support goes all the way through to the GTX900 series (stops with GTX1050 etc). Having said that, some games MAY get weird issues if the card came out a lot later. If so such as flickering may have to Google for workarounds.

**WARNING:
Not sure if 64-bit XP has any issues, but if you use 32-bit you'll be limited in the memory you can use. You'd want a 1GB video card only and even then could use only up to about 2.8GB of system memory (no matter how much is installed).

SUMMARY:
- XP 64-bit ?
- used PC
- best video card through GTX900 seriers that makes sense for budget

OTHER:
You can alternatively just DUAL-BOOT, or possibly try VMWARE with an XP VM running inside Windows 10

There is a big range of issues here. DOS-based games in particular but if it's a specific hardware issue then you need to look at your list of games specifically and find out what works and what does not as it varies too much to give a quick comment.

Some games may need pre-Turbo, old 100MHz CPU era machines, but other games may need more processing power or different hardware.

There may be other issues like the audio solution etc.

Most "XP" games probably work fine on modern hardware. If you want more help provide a LIST of the games you want to work.
