Hey all,
I've a PC with ASUS P8B75-M motherboard. Before I built this system I was running 2 HDDs with windows 7 and windows XP separately. (So whenever I want to boot XP I changed the boot order)

After I built this new system, I installed Windows 7 to a HDD and in the BIOS I've selected AHCI mode for SATA. Then I tried to install XP to the next HDD leaving it's the only HDD in the system with AHCI enabled And I got BSOD. Then only after doing some research I got to know that Windows XP gives trouble with AHCI.

My question is

# Is there anyway to install Windows XP in AHCI mode under this motherboard? Or Is there a way I can convert the Windows 7 installation to IDE mode without reformatting?

(Cause if I couldn't do this I'll have to set my boot priority as well as the SATA mode whenever I'm switching)

Thanks in advance..

Solution
just change the sata to IDE mode and windows 7 will still work fine, its only if you installed windows 7 in ide mode and switch to AHCI do you need to play with settings in the bios to get it to boot.
Download the F6 floppy preinstallation from the motherboard manufacturers web site. extract it.

Right clock my computer
Select manage
Open Device manager
Open IDE/ATA ATAPI Controllers
Right click the storage device you want to switch to AHCI mode
Select update driver, do not search and have disk.
Browse to your extracted drivers click the one you want (AHCI) and ok

For Z68 (and probably P67 now to) the new Intel drivers changed the name to
"Intel Desktop/Workstation/Server Express Chipset SATA AHCI controller"

Restart changing BIOS to AHCI mode and reboot. new device will be found. XP will install driver automatically and require another restart.
