Lenovo Laptop G50-30
BIOS Version A7CN25WW
HDD WD10JPCX-24UE4T0
Windows 10 Home x64 installed

Using a USB flash drive with Windows XP SP3 on it
Everything in BIOS set to Legacy/IDE Mode, ACPI disabled otherwise different BSOD

Windows Setup loads the drivers faster than usual
Gets to the 'Setup is starting Windows' part
Hangs there for a minute or two
BSOD with STOP code 0x0000007B

Is this a HDD controller driver problem?

Solution
if guy needs Xp he could install Windows 10 on his system and run windows XP as a Virtual Desktop it would give him a lot of help
or do like I did and get a Dell E5440 on EBay for 100$ and slap XP on it, its a perfect platform for it.

So it is impossible to even install XP on it?

The guy I'm trying to downgrade this laptop for needs it only for some programs that run on XP.

EDIT:
I got the Windows XP CD and it passes the 0x0000007B BSOD, but it hangs at the Partition edit screen, no matter if I press anything or not.

There are two partitions on the HDD (first one should be 930GB and second one - around 23GB) but the XP Setup shows only one with an [Unknown] format and with a total of 953GB

XP needs sata drivers if its on AHCI in the BIOS.

And the only way you can do that, is if you slipstream sata drivers into an XP ISO

Since it doesnt have sata drivers in its install. Like Windows Vista,7,8 and 10 does

You can get that stop error, if it's on AHCI in the BIOS and the XP cd doesnt have sata drivers on it.

But since it's on IDE, it probably doesnt support XP

I have everything on IDE/Compatibility/Legacy

The problem, whatever it was, had something to do with the laptop not liking my USB flash drive
Now I get no BSOD with my XP CD but the setup hangs on the partition screen.

Could this problem be caused by the fact that the OS I'm trying to wipe is UEFI?

Thank you, works perfectly! Never tried VM before.

If the guy doesn't like it I'll just install Windows 7 and hope that'll do.

Well, could you install XP in a VM for him? If you install windows 7 Pro or ultimate you can install and use windows xp mode, which is just that.

Otherwise you'll have to use an older computer.
