windows xp installation pls....help

hi guys
From the past few days i had some probs with my windows xp (probs like 1}shutting down d comp......some end now stuff comes and system restarts,etc etc.)

Then i decided to install windows xp on my own......i download various windows xp sp3 files from the net.
i transferred it to cd ,then started installing .......

but during installation file not found pops up n d installation stops

i downloaded new sp3 files n transferred it to a cd and tried installing but again no gain because of the same reason........................
can some one help me install xp sp3 on my comp.

There is your first mistake.

There is your second mistake.

Get a valid copy from Microsoft and get back to us.

Once you have an actual valid install disk, put it in the drive, boot from the DVD, follow the directions.

2)thn shud i press f8 or smthing

How you do it depends on exactly what you are trying to do.
A full XP reinstall? Or just an update to SP3 (which should happen through Windows Updates).

Either:
Change the boot order in the BIOS to DVD first
or
Select F8 at boot, and select the DVD drive.

Boot and install.
