Here is the thing, i already posted this question 2 weeks ago about running my really old computer. After 5 years of inactivity i decided to activate it. I switched the battery on mobo, made sure everything was plugged and everything was working.

So i start the computer nothing shows up (it was probably trying to boot xp, but it was just black screen), so i thought no OS is install. Then i burned cd and try to install XP, but here is the thing, the screen freezes when it comes to setup is starting or something like that, and i stays there forever, i even waited 2 hours once.

Then i take the HDD (thought that might be problem) and plug it into other computer, and it was working, i install XP on it perfectly. But when i try to get it back to old computer, and when it starts to boot sometimes it starts windows logo and then black screen instantly, or just black screen from start. Like holy what the [censored] is happening, it was working properly on other computer.

Then i suspect it might be RAM or something i don't know, and i burn Hirens boot on cd and i run parted magic and everything works fine, cpu, gpu, ram, hdd, everything. Like why is there a problem encountering when i try to boot xp from hdd or start a setup from cd.
Anyone has an idea?

Sorry i forgot to mention that, here are the specs of computer:
CPU: Athlon Duron DHD1200AMT1B 1.2 GHz
Mobo: MSI K3TV
GPU: ASUS V8170 Magic 64M
RAM: 512 mb pc3200 (400mhz)
HDD1: Maxtor ATA 80gb
HDD2: Some other manufacturer ATA 80 GB
PSU: Blueberry (local) 400W

I'll try tonight disabing all the things mentioned in link.

Ok, tried what was said in the second link, nothing worked.

I installed linux Ubuntu 14. verson on hdd but with other computer, and put that hdd back in old computer and it actually worked !
But the thing is it is VERY slow, like utterly possibly slow, like when i try to hove over any icon the descritpion text shows in like slow mode, that's how solw it is. Don't know why. Is it RAM? Maybe that's why it can't run XP when it has troubles running ubuntu ?

[BUMP]

Anyone knows why would it be so slow? I think that has to do why it won't let me run XP, or even run the xp installation maybe.
Is it ram or cpu, or both? I'm planning to change the RAM soon and CPU, since both are very very cheap.

System is running slow because the system is slow. Too little RAM, old hard drive, slow CPU. Not sure what you were expecting out of it, but it's a slow computer.

I hope it can at least run the installation of xp, it could've run FIFA 07, Call of Duty and other games in that time. I don't expect miracles, but like Windows xp is not to demanding, especially in terms of ram.

I even installed Lubuntu, which is really really lite version of OS, and like it's not lagging, but you can feel sometimes some slower moves then it should.
I upgraded RAM to 3gb (333mhz), so ram isn't issue now, i'm thinking it might be cpu just being really not effiecent or something, it only comes down to CPU. And i'm not sure i want to buy a new cpu, i'd rather just invest 50e to buy some nice second-hand dual-core 775 with solid gpu and just use what i can from this computer (case, hdd, psu).

Exactly, to make the system run well, the money you spend on it would get you a used much faster system.

A new hard drive can speed things up a lot, old worn out drives are not very good to use, it's a big bottleneck, more than people think.
