So I had old PC I wanted to reinstall windows on it so I had a usb stick which I used to reinstall it after it had done it things the PC rebooted after which I realised that my BIOS doesn't support usb boot so I installed that installation of windows on to CD (CD-R) I set my boot load to boot from CD and the Pc frozen on black screen with

"Certifying DMI Pool Data ........
Boot from ATAPI CD-ROM:
Press any key to boot from CD ....... "

Yes I did press keys but it keeps frozen.

Solution
In BIOS set the SATA ports to IDE mode.
XP has no built in SATA support and won't install without IDE mode or adding a SATA driver via floppy disk during the install.

But id use Ubuntu Linux too

Why do you want to install XP? It's a very old operating system with support for only 3.7GB of RAM, and few features. It also has no support from Microsoft, and no more updates will be released.

For an old PC, you'd be much better off installing a distribution of Linux. The PC I'm using to type this is running Ubuntu 14.04, but there are many other distros, one of which is best for your needs.

Here are my suggestions:

Zorin OS 9
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Linux Mint 17.2

Out of these, Zorin OS 9 is the most like Windows in general, Mint is very similar to Windows XP, and Ubuntu is different but very easy to use.
