Windows XP shows absurd amount of ram

I have a PC with 2 DDR-DIMM sticks in it, one is 512mb, second is 256mb but dxdiag shows that it only has 190(?)mb of RAM. Whole system is running very slowly, windows can't even close - they are progressively closing line by line.
OS: Win XP SP3 32 bit
UPD: BIOS shows 192 MB of ram. I wonder how that number is even possible..

Trying both individually and then both at the same time for some reason worked..Even though it STILL shows 702 instead of 768 - at least something. However another problem is still here: windows dissapear line by line when closed and if I try to scroll in File Explorer or Web Browser each line is drawn at one given moment taking one scroll like 30 seconds (looks like it needs V-Sync but for every line of pixels).

Sounds like the GPU driver is missing. Which motherboard and graphics card do you have?

I ran two driver auto-setup utilities to install drivers so I guess everything is in place :/
MB: ASUS K8V-MX/S
CPU: AMD Sempron 2600+ (1,6 GHz)
Video: none
