Windows XP sp2 Black screen on boot

Whenever I boot XP it gets to the loading screen (usually) and then it
goes black and stays that way. Strange thing is, if I choose to log the
boot it works fine. I have done the FIXMBR attempt MS says will fix it,
nothing. I tried appending /bootlog to the .ini in hopes of automating
it - no go.

This is a recent install so there is not much old stuff on it. In fact,
I checked for compatibility on most of the software before I installed.
I doubt highly it is any conflicts, all the drivers are MS signed
andthere are plenty of IRQ's available (acpi or no - serial, parallel
and etc. built in stuff is disabled so the resources are free).

All drivers and BIOS are newest available (I have checked several
times). Part Info:
6800GT, AMD64 3500+, 1G OCZ, Audugy 2, Pioneer DVDRW 106D,
Asus A8V Deluxe, Atech Pro-9 Flash Reader, Maxtor 120G Sata

Any ideas? I am really getting annoyed.

try asking in a computer group? There has to be a group set up for XP by
now.

Sorry, the newsreader sent it to the wrong group. I'll have to
doublecheck the URL's next time.
