Windows xp sp2

Hey!
This is probably a really dumb question, so forgive my ignorance...but....
I'm still using xp service pack 1 because when I first installed sp2 my pc went balls up...at the time there was a lot of doubt as to whether or not sp2 was bug free enough to use.
Is it all good?
Should I just get sp2?

sorry for the dumb noob question

edit - and why is oem cheaper than retail? is there any reason why i should spen more on the retail pack than the oem one? I'm dumb and confused!

SP2 worked fine for me. I would recommend you update Windows with all the critical updates.

Retail XP comes with MS support, OEM doesn't.

Licensing and upgrading are different with OEM and retail. I suggest you go to www.microsoft.com, find the appropriate link, and read up on this for yourself.
