Windows XP Won't Install After Slipstreaming Drivers?

I posted about how to get Windows XP on a newer motherboard (my build is here), and I received advice to slipstream new drivers onto my Windows XP Pro. I used the drivers here (top option), and I followed this guide. The only difference between what I did and the guide is that I put multiple drivers onto the new image (there were several in the file I downloaded from AMD, so I just put in all the drivers that were textmode compatible). Problem is, when I tried to run the disc, I received the error "amd_sata.sys is corrupted".

Anyone have any advice on how to solve this? What did I do wrong? This is my first build, and I've hit a lot of snags in the process, so I really appreciate anyone who can help me get over this final hurdle.

I tried this initially when I couldn't get Windows XP to run, before I attempted to slipstream the new drivers. I'm not sure what that will do, but I guess it doesn't hurt to try IDE with the slipstreamed image. I'll give it a go when I get home from work.

This motherboard supports Windows XP so you shouldn't need to do anything out of the ordinary. Try loading the drivers off the motherboard supplied driver disk, you can update them later. If you are still having an issue see if you can turn on USB legacy support in the Bios them put the new drivers on a USB Flash drive and install them from there.

Right, the first thing I did after assembling my build was attempt to install Windows XP (I have a Windows 8 upgrade copy which I planned to put on the system afterward). I just got a blue screen with stop error code 0x0000007B, so I looked around online and saw recommendations to switch to IDE. With IDE, I do at least get to the "Welcome to Setup" screen, but couldn't get any further than that.

EDIT: Here's my exact build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2cyru

XP has no native support for SATA . The technology was invented well after the release of XP .

You either load a SATA driver from a floppy disk before the install , or you set the SATA ports to operate in IDE mode . It may be called legacy mode or perhaps something else .
I have not ever tried to load XP on to an SSD . I am wondering if that is part of the problem .I do not know why that would be the case , but I suspect XP is incompatible in some way.
Do you have a conventional hard drive you could install to , run the 8 upgrade and then clone it to the SSD .

Actually, the build I posted was only including all of the new parts I've purchased, I'm also running a 250gb Seagate Barracuda HDD from my previous desktop, which is the drive I've been trying to put Windows XP on.

Just for clarification, I need to used the slipstreamed Windows XP image and have the BIOS set to IDE?

Ok, I tried installing XP onto my HDD, in IDE. Like before, I got to the "Welcome to Setup" screen, but from there I was unable to do anything (computer wouldn't accept any input). I tried the slipstreamed image, and all I got was "amd_sata.sys is corrupted".

I think my issue is that there's something wrong with the drivers in my slipstreamed image. Could someone refer me to what drivers I need and how to get them on my PC in the easiest way possible? (I don't have a floppy port of usb floppy drive, so I don't think that way will be an option).

Anyone have any suggestions? I'm just trying to get Windows XP Pro onto this system: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2m26N If anyone can advise me on how to do that, I'd really appreciate it.

Also, if the available information isn't sufficient, please don't hesitate to let me know. I've been struggling with this for three days, so any assistance would be very helpful.

I have a suggestion that will let you eliminate a hardware issue being the problem .

Download and install ubuntu linux

www.ubuntu.com

You can nuke it with a windows install later but for now it will let you know if the problem is with your software , or with the hardware you are trying to install to .

Ok, I just tried it. It worked just fine, until about a third of the way through the install, the progress bar stopped (left it running for ~2 hours, no result). The hard drive I was using was an old Seagate Barracuda from my old, old desktop (my SSD is still in the mail, so I haven't tried it yet). I even tried a couple other old HDDs I had lying around, but I wasn't certain if any of them were in working order.

Tomorrow I'll try scrounging around work for a working HDD nobody wants, and see if I can install ubuntu then. But at this point, I think my issue may just be faulty storage.

Thanks, it looks like this should work! I'll try it tomorrow, hopefully with another HDD as well.
