Hello everyone

I've got a new Samsung notebook NP930X2K-S02US that came with win10.
I installed windows 7 and "windows updates" managed to sort out most of the drivers. I then contacted Samsung support and they provided me with a link that downloads an executable which you run and finds all the drivers for you. However it will only provide you with Windows10 drivers.

I did manage to use a win10 driver for one device, don't remember which on though, that worked fine on win7. However I've got another 2 left with yellow question-marks.

The first one is called "Network controller" which I think is the wireless adapter.
The second missing driver is for "Universal Serial Bus USB Controller"

Is there an alternative way to find and manually install these drivers?

Many thanks

You can find the hardware IDs through the property tabs in Device Manager, and then look for drivers for those directly or translate them to vendor and device through - I forget, if you do it I'll look for it. The problem is that if Samsung does not provide Windows 7 drivers, you may only have the choice of drivers from a public driver site. I never, ever trust those to be malware-free.

Does Samsung have Win7 drivers for that model?

Hello WyomingKnott

Thanks for your email. No unfortunately they don't provide win7 drivers.

Under Property: Hardware Ids, I can see:

-PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_003E&SUBSYS_4125144D&REV_20
-PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_003E&SUBSYS_4125144D
-PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_003E&CC_028000
-PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_003E&CC_0280

When I googled the secone line I found this website called "drivers collection" that says this is related to Qualcomm Atheros wireless network adapter.
I'm going to risk it and download the file. Worst case scenario a re-install of the OS.

OK driverscollection.com is safe. I downloaded the relative file and got my wireless adapter working.

I am going to repeat the process for the second yellow question-mark (USB controller), hopefully driverscollection.com will also have that one.

driverscollection.com does not have the driver for my USB controller. Some other website have it but when I click download it downsloads an executable that most likely will install all sort of bloatware.

My hardware Ids for my USB Controller are

-PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9CB1&SUBSYS_C11C144D&REV_03
-PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9CB1&SUBSYS_C11C144D
-PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9CB1&CC_0C0330
-PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_9CB1&CC_0C03

Any more suggestions please?

Got it.

If you have the same problem go to downloadcenter.intel.com and look for:

Intel USB3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for Intel 8/9/100 Series and Intel C220/C610 Chipset Family.

WyomingKnott many thanks for pointing me to the right direction.
