Windows7 wireless compatibility

Hello,
I have bought a widows7 starter notebook and set wireless network connection on it. The connection works fine when on its own, but fails if my other (XP Home) notebook is connected to the same wireless network. Interestingly enough my XP Home notebook is not influenced by windows7 starter notebook. I set both to the same workgroup, but it did not help. What else can I do?

find the full manual for your wireless router, download it from the manufacturer website.
there are traffic management settings to prioritize certain users, or clear these types of settings to allow all users equal access.
that would be the first thing to check out.
