I've got a Winfast A250TD My Vivo edition which is the Ti4400 card running 275 core / 552 Memory @ stock speeds. It has the large heatsink each side with dual fans.
Previously my max stable / artifact free overclocks for this card were 290 Core / 590 memory. Any more and I would get a lockup or crash in 3dmark after a run or two.
The heatsinks were attatched using 2 plastic pins and I noticed a degree of movement after removing the card one day. After removing the heatsink I noticed white thermal paste on the GPU and all memory chips.
I cleaned it all off and applied Arctic Silver 3 and reattatched the sinks using a pair of long bolts, springs, washers and nuts. This allowed me to firmly clamp the heatsinks to the card and I am now @ Ti4600 speeds 300/650. I havent experimented further as I've reached what I set out to do but I tried a quick blast at 700 memory without luck.
I removed the noisy dual fans and stuck a 80mm case fan @ 5v up against the sink and it gives me the same cooling with zero noise. The back of the heatsink is quite warm however as my CPU HSF is blowing warm air in that direction.
As soon as I get round to it I'll divert the hot air away and maybe even attatch a fan to the back of the card and try 700 memory again.
I don't think the AS3 would have made a huge difference in temp control over the white paste, some yes. I think the biggest improvement was clamping the heatsinks down tight.
