winrar taking too long to extract or open a large file

I am using windows 8.1 on my pc and when i try to open a large file(>20gb) it takes too long to open it with winrar which did not happen previously. and the extraction time actually keeps on increasing. I have a AMD A8 7600 quad core cpu with 8 gigs of ddr3 ram with more than 700gigs of free space on my disk. Can anyone help me with this and provide a solution?

What are you extracting that is over 20gb? And with your weak APU, its going to take quite awhile to extract it.

This is a recent problem and there wasn't any such issue previously. The standard time it took to extract the same files was between 10 to 15 Mins. But I switched from Windows 10 to 8.1. Can that be the reason?
