I am building a HTPC and have an HP expresscard tv tuner, which is essentially a Hauppage WinTV-HVR-1500. I figured
I may as well use it with the HTPC if I can, but I can not seem to find any specific info on whether this Expresscard runs off
the USB or Pci-x bus, as based on the Expresscard standard, a device can be designed to use one or (unless I am mistaken) both. Expresscard adapters which plug into USB slots are much less expensive than adapters to interface with the Pci-x bus,
so I wanted to figure out which bus this tv tuner runs on before wasting money on an adapter which won't work.

I apologize, I posted this in the wrong forum initially.

One can not tell by looking at an ExpressCard if the manufacturer
made the internal components compatible with the USB or Pci-x bus, as an
Expresscard slot in your computer can rout the data to either bus
based on the way the manufacturer built the card. There are adapters one
can stick an Expresscard into which plugs directly into a USB port which are
much cheaper than adapters for Pci-x ports, and if the card is meant to utilize
the Pci-x bus, and you use a USB Expresscard adapter, it won't work. I was
more interested if anyone knew which bus Hauppage made this to run on, as
the info does not seem to be available on their web site or anywhere else
that I have found.

Good suggestion. I actually tried it once before, and didn't find it listed during a brief search, but was pressed for time, had to leave my computer and forgot to look again. I will try again.

Thanks
