WinXP Pro SR2 Internet config.

Hi Guys

I'm a total noob with XP ... been running Win2K for years, but have been totally unsuccessful in installing Win2k on SATA (Raptor) so, in desperation I glommed XP SR2, which installed on SATA flawlessly. Now, my problem is XP can't (Wizards no help whatsoever) connect to Inet. I have a Netgear four port gateway-router (DSL) that works just fine. I can ping the router, any of the attached systems, and any web address from XP, but the silly SOB refuses to permit direct access ... it's got to be a XP config problem. XP Help is essentially useless, so any ideas from you guys is humbly requested

Try disabling any software firewalls you may have... most notably the Windows Firewall.

Look at the advanced tab in the windows firewall properties. There is a check box for allowing network connections. If that doesn't work then do what Zoron said and disable to eliminate that as being a problem. Post back your results.
