I recently bought an upgrade from windows xp to windows 7. I had windows xp 32bit, and now I have windows 7 64 bit. I have a partition that was my main partition for windows xp but now I have upgraded I have a new main partition for windows 7. Is it safe to wipe my windows xp partition and if so how do I do it.
Thanks

In your case I'd suggest shrinking the WinXP partition down to about 60GB total and let Win7 have the remaining ~160GB.

EaseUS Partition Master - Home Edition will let you re-size your partitions.

Right now - you have a dual boot setup. It's not a bad thing to have.
And if Win7 is the default you might want to leave it as is right now till you get Win7 running exactly as you like it.

How much space is the WinXP taking up on the hard disk? Any free space in that partition?

How much room in the Win7 partition?
