Wiping harddrive on broken laptop

Hey everyone,

Soon I will need to hand in my work laptop my job provided me because it's broken. It won't start up.
The thing is, I've used it for personal matters too. I really don't want strangers to see all this sensitive information.

I'm on a very limited budget so what's the best thing I can do? I have no desktops but can I plug the harddrive in a different laptop and remove everything with something like CCleaner?
