wire management behind motherboard

Does it matter if my cables are managed behind my motherboard? the front where all my parts are is clean and mess free, but behind the motherboard they are all tangled up and just a mess, can that damage anything or effect performance?

There's always a chance it'll affect performance (if you have power cables next to data cables, but for the most part it should be fine. If it really bothers you, you can buy zip ties (don't clip them too tightly though) or cable ties (velcro ones) to clean it up a bit.
