Wired connection more than half as slow as wireless connection??????

Hey I just got new internet and when I connect my computer using ethernet it's signifiantly slower than wireless on the same computer.

Hooking up my roomates computer to the wired produces very fast results (faster than wifi) so the problem is my computer's ethernet connection.

Some speed examples (I'm supposed to get up to 50 mbps from my ISP)

WIRED

Check this:
Control Panel > Device Manager > Network Adapters > right click on yours and select the Advanced tab at the top. Locate the "Link Speed & Duplex" selection. Change the option from Auto-negociation (usually standard) to 100 Mbps Full Duplex (Or 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex if you have that option). You may also want to try disabling your wireless adapter while using a wired connection and see if that helps the speed issue.

Hi, thanks for the response!

I tried both of your suggestions but the same result, I'm still getting speeds of 8-20 mbps (mostly around 10). Roomate is still getting at 45-55 mbps wired.

Are there any more software things I can do? Any more suggestions?
