Question Wired Connection Not Working after New Router Installed

Hello,

I just upgraded my router to the A7. I followed the setup guide and got all my Wifi devices working as well as two other ethernet devices working (TV and PS4) - however my PC, which runs windows 10 and is connected directly by ethernet - does not work. I tried the following things:


1. reset router to factory

2. plugged cable into laptop - ruling out bad ethernet cable

3. Unplugged computer for a few minutes and then plugged back in.


Nothing seems to work. I have literally never heard of a compatibility issue with wired connections!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Verify that you have DHCP enabled and not a static IP address.

run ipconfig /all and post the output.

it is DHCP...

Also, when i do ipconfig - all it says is media not connected.

Did you reboot the PC? I had to do that after changing out my router. You said you unplugged, Lan cable or power cord?

i reset my computer several times in the process - Oh and yea - I shut computer down and removed power cable to computer!

It could still be a cable problem. If your PC can't automegotiate a speed with the router you could see the not connected. Is this a "flat" cable? Or a homemade cable? Or have any in-wall cabling?

It is exactly this : AmazonBasics RJ45 Cat-5E Network Ethernet Cable. It works with my laptop though... would it work on one device and not the other?
