I recently shutdown a desktop that had not been shut down for a few months. When I restared it I had no internet/network connection. I restated and then I had a connection. I shut it down again and again I had not connection. This time I tried to restart but it didn't help so I replaced the ethernet cable and then I had a connection. A third time and I tried previous solutions and then also assigning static IP address and turned of IPV6, but that didn't work.

Also, when I try to open Firefox or IE they do not open, all other programs run fine though. And when I shut down it takes 2 or 3 minutes. I have a Xeon, with 16 ram and SSD.

The wifi on the router (e2500) is working for laptop. Also I tried to connect to a different router with no luck.

I just installed a Rosewill 2.4wireless adapter card and it is not showing up in device manager. If I try to run setup the software says it can not detect card. Any ideas??

Thank!

Seems like your desktop didnt have updated driver for your adapter!!!..
Download suitable driver for your network card!!!
Note: From my experience my windows didnt detect the network card with suitable drivers, finally i reinstall the windows now it is detecting....
Also try to Restore your system to previous point where it was worked good...
