wired internet speed different on computer compare to others

So my computer is running on 17-18 mps and my laptop is on 80mps plus. why is that?
Both are on wired and the computer is a custom build and newer.

How are you connecting to the router? Are both wired or wireless? What type of adapter(s) are you using?

no wireless all wired
using motorola surfboard SBG6580, its a modem and router.

I would check the drivers on the desktop. Also - have you tried swapping cables (to eliminate all issues, unplug it from the laptop, plug it into the PC - don't switch the router port). It should run at close to the same speeds.
