Hello,

I need help!

I am trying to set up a wired computer network...i have a main computer and i want 6 laptops connected to it via a switch. The main computer has a program that i want all the other laptops to be able to access and amend.

I am running windows vista on the main computer and xp on the laptops.

I have tried to install windows server 2003 onto the vista computer but it will not work?!...Do i even need to install a server OS?

Can anyone help me?!

Its a military software application.

the software is used by pilots to document flying hours...

i want to use this network as a training tool...

allow users to log on and access the program from the main computer via the laptops.

the users will be able to add information and amend it.

you could try to setup a workgroup based network and share the folder that contains the data.

make sure all computers are using the same workgroup name.
