Question Wired printer to wireless - how to?

Hello,

I have a pretty old but still good laser printer that among some legacy printer ports has USB A-B. And that's cool, but I wish that this printer would be wireless. The printer sits in a place where it's hard to pass the cable to the main router. I know there is an option to set up some new router as access point and connect the printer directly but I'm not fully on board with that idea. My questions:

1. What small and easy to set up with an existing network router do you recommend, making the printer wireless and home-accessible? I'm using Asus routers for the main network if that's relevant.
2. Are there any other options to do so? Raspberry-pi-ish things, or so?

My setup:
- HP LaserJet 1015 (yes, it's old)
- Router Asus AX57

Any other older, unused routers available?
I don't have any spare routers now

What is the distance between main router and laser printer? What is, if anything, in between. Any coax cables/wall jacks available?
It's about 5m but there is a wall between. It's impossible to put a cable directly to the router form printer. Let's assume there is no way to physically connect the devices.

Update your post to include make and model laser printer.

What model Asus routers? Any other brand routers?

More details needed.

What is the wall made of?

And the requirement is that multiple network computers will be using the printer correct?

Is there a networked computer next to the laser printer that could share the printer? Disadvantage being that that computer would need to to be left on for others to use the printer.

At one time HP sold (expensive) network adapters (JetDirect) that were used. Printer === some cable ===> Network adapter ---Ethernet cable--> Network port on switch or router. An Access Point or router configured as an Access point could be used.

Do a google search using the words " HP printer adapter wifi" etc.

There are a variety of options that may be workable for your wireless requirements.

Sketch out the options to ensure that all will connect. Be sure to carefully read all product documentation as well.

Details matter.

Printing jobs use very little data transmissions. However wifi will not penetrate thick wall. So may be

plus USB to ethernet print servers like

or

https://www.amazon.com/IOGEAR-1-Port-Print-Server-GPSU21/dp/B000FW60FW

There is no guarantee that these print servers will be compatible with your HP laserjet printer, so maybe just buy a cheap laser printer with built-in network support is a better option.
