Wireless 360 controller and windows 8 uknown device

Hello,

I did a clean install of win8 64 pro. Runs great. The only problem is I cat get this wireless controller to work. It worked fine in win7. I went into device manager and tried to load the driver from from xbox 360 peripherals, but the data is said to be invalid. I have the charge and play kit. both the controller and receiver show as unknown device in the DM. Hep' me yall.

to add, the update for the controller has been trying to come through via windows update and it fails. i get error WindowsUpdate_8007000D OR WindowsUpdate_dt000
