looking at purchasing a wireless ac router + pci card for my pc, and possibly buying steam link thingy ma jig to play my pc games on a big TV.
however, i am told, that if i run wireless ac, with my other devices connected, such as iphones, tablets, set top box etc, it will degrade the connection to the weakest connected device, in this case, wireless N.
i dont want to spend on new devices and hardware if im not going to get the extra speed i have paid for.
is it possibly to run a dual band router, have all the smart phones etc run on the 2.4ghz and have my pc and steam link run on the 5ghz, without interferring with speeds?
i tried to google this. however, its kinda difficult to word in a search engine.
hope this is easy to understand, any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Sure, you can use a separate SSID for each radio so that you can select which to use for each device. You can also attach a second router configured as an access point if you need additional bandwidth, it is quite easy to set up.

Wireless is sub-optimal for gaming due to the higher latency, so if that is important consider a pair of AV 1200 MIMO capable powerline adapters -- HERE is a good guide to what they will actually achieve in speed.
