Wireless Access Point with Ethernet Switch

I have a modem/router upstairs although get very weak / no signal in some places downstairs. I currently have a long ethernet run from the router upstairs to a PC downstairs.

I'm looking for a wireless access point that will take the internet from the ethernet downstairs to share wirelessly, although also need it to have a port to then still connect to the pc which does not have a wireless card.

Does such a device exist or will I need to connect the ethernet to an ethernet switch and then on to a wireless access point?

You can use a 2nd router as an access point/switch. It has both of those built in + a firewall.

Pretty much any router will work. Do not spends lots of money for extra features many do not work when you run it as a AP. The router does not need a setting to run as a AP pretty much any will work. There is a sticky on this forum on how to use a router as a AP and there are even youtube videos......but it is really easy.

Any decent router will do. Give the LAN side a static IP, disable DHCP, DNS, Firewall, UPNP etc etc and then connect them via a LAN port, to use it as a switch and wireless AP.
