I'm looking to expand my wireless network through the use of access points. Currently my setup is a modem that is connected to a SonicWall. Our apple express acts as our wireless router which is plugged into the SonicWall as well. We have many switches that go up through walls and floors. I was wondering if I can use an access point to expand the wireless say, on a completely different floor through the use of an ethernet. My only concern is since the ethernet isn't running directly to the Apple airport then it can't relay the wireless. Is there any solution to this?

I am not sure what you mean "relay wireless". It to a point depends on how you have this cabled. If all your switches connect to the apple then it will act as one network. A AP is best thought of as wireless switch it just uses wireless rather than copper ports but like a switch all the device are on the same network.

Now if what you have done is cable the switch to the sonicwall then you might have a issue because you now have a router (ie the apple) between some of your devices. This will "mostly" work but you have 2 networks. If this is the case I would use the apple express as a AP and let your sonicwall do all the router function. It likely already is acting as a router to the internet so having the second on the apple just makes things more complex.
